Demand

Demand

A Poem by Xanthous Crow
"

"Defy me and you will know what it is to stand against a god."

"
Devote your life to me,
Your blood, your honor,
Because I demand it.

Sacrifice your livestock to please me,
Your children, your prisoners,
Because I demand it.

Raise your weapon in my name,
Your sword, your gun,
Because I demand it.

March with my holy army,
To battle, to war,
Because I demand it.

Spill blood for my glory,
Kill the heathens, kill the nonbelievers,
Because I demand it.

Sacrifice your life to live by my side,
Your hopes, your dreams,
Because I demand it.

Bend to my will,
Submit, give in,
Because I demand it.

You will do as I command,
I am your god,
You will follow my word,
Because I make my demand,
The fear of judgment propels you,
A blade at your throat,
I hesitate and pause when you whisper,
"No."
