Truth

Truth

A Poem by Xanthous Crow
"

I despise people that try to hide behind their safe little denials; people who try to demonize the truth.

"
You call me ignorant
And claim I "do not know"
But I do, I do
I know more than you
You say people are naturally
Good and decent
And I say
"Prove it,"
But you cannot - you stand there
Frozen and spellbound
Trembling and afraid
Of the fact that people are wolves
Waiting, just waiting
To tear each other apart at the slightest
Of provocations
Mothers, daughters, son
Husbands, friends, neighbors
The old, the sick, the infirm
They're animals, all animals
The monsters are no longer under our beds
Or lurking inside our closets
Instead, they're around us,
All over
Surrounding us
You.
Me.
