Sand

Sand

A Poem by Xanthous Crow
"

"

Long have I roamed and wandered
This cold wind smacking my face
I've become frostbitten and numb
To it all
I rest my head to sleep on the mattress of
Uncertainty
With sorrow at my feet
Ready to pounce and jolt me awake
A taste I've forgotten haunts my lips
And shattered dreams are ghosts behind my eyelids
These tears are so bitter
I try to catch it in my hands
I try to gain control again
But it has all turned to sand
Loose and flowing
Slipping through my fingers
Each and every grain a lifetime
Wasted and gone
Each and every grain filled with regret

Great piece, as always. I've always been interested about the way sand can represent time, every single grain to every moment.
