Animal

A Poem by Xanthous Crow

This desire for solitude -
Overpowering enough to burn bridges.
This want for isolation -
Estranges my friends and family.
I hate them all -
Get away from me!
You don't understand!
You'll never understand,
But neither will I --
Why do I lash out?
Why do I explode so violently?
Why do I bottle things up?
I can't take my emotions normally
Who is this animal I see in the mirror?
The hateful one with the rage in his eyes -
And the blood on his jaws?
This animal isn't the real me
