Beauty

Beauty

A Poem by Xanthous Crow
"

White, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, black.

"
You told me, once
That your beauty would never fade
That it would be eternal
And I warned you that it was,
Like everything else,
Fleeting before long

But you just laughed as
He took you away
You laughed when I was left alone
And you laughed as you had the time of your life

But I am laughing now -
You've slowed down
I see the wear and tear in places
You're beginning to crack

You told me, once
That your beauty would never fade
(That you were too good for the likes of me!)
But what of your beauty now?
I'll remember when you're rotting underground
