That your beauty would never fade That it would be eternal And I warned you that it was, Like everything else, Fleeting before long But you just laughed as He took you away You laughed when I was left alone And you laughed as you had the time of your life But I am laughing now - You've slowed down I see the wear and tear in places You're beginning to crack You told me, once That your beauty would never fade (That you were too good for the likes of me!)
