The month of my birth Why won't you spare me? You killed Summer With a merciless stab Leaving my heart chilly like the rain you usher in Children return to school Opening doors wide For rebirth and new beginnings But the changing leaves Are entwined with bad memories As haunted October is next door No longer do I smell the sweet scent of summer The wind smells different The tinge of decay Is September synonymous to sorrow? Seems like tragedy lives here Slapping warm, sunny feelings down Though, the leaves sure are pretty Orange and brown and red Maybe September isn't so bad, after all © 2012 Xanthous CrowFeatured Review
