Inside

Inside

A Poem by Xanthous Crow

I was tossed aside
Tossed out by you
Harsh words followed
And so I retreated
To dark places
Where I slithered and slunk
Away from the sun
In the mire and stink
Then you repented
And came looking
And found me there
In the dark and the gloom
Writhing like the worm I am
And you beg and plead
And say sorry countless times
I flash a smile that hides knives
And you let me inside
