ShallowsA Poem by Xanthous CrowBetter to have loved and lost, than to have not loved at all.
Away I go again
Off the deep end And you stare, as always, With those piercing black-hole eyes I shout but you whisper And it makes me shout more Until you're shouting and I'm shouting But we aren't hearing each other And the neighbors next door just stare with Eyes wide You slap me And then again How dare I! How dare I! Finger stabs accusingly And then I go to hit you and then stop Pausing -- to spit in your face I'm forced to watch the tears well up in your eyes I leave And then you leave And silence seeps in For a day, or a week, or more Then I come back and then you come back The cycle starts all over again But I've had enough with Treading over eggshells or Shallows, filled with rocks Of sleeping with my thumb On the panic button So I leave, this time for good Because you deserve better -- Better than I could ever provide But I'm forced to watch, forever haunted, By those tears coming from your eyes © 2012 Xanthous CrowFeatured Review
