Alone: An Empty World

Do you ever get lonely?

As if you're the only person who feels this way? 

Alone…

Sometimes, I feel as if this word means nothing.

It's thrown around so loosely these days.

Have you ever felt truly alone?

Even in a room full of people,

It feels empty, as if no one's there. 

Not even just the room,

The whole world feels empty.

It feels as if there's no one who understands.

No one can justify these emotions I harbor.

No one to prove that I'm normal.

Is this really what loneliness feels like?
