Jonathan is Gay

Jonathan is Gay

A Poem by Alicia Cubatoso

Six months old, he fit on my chest

Felt our hearts beat together, while we took a rest

Started babysitting Jonathan soon after, he turned five

Knew he was different, between you and I

Chose a pink doll, over a red car

I worried for him, that his life would be hard

I knew a boy in high school, who was gay

Domenic told me, to anyone else he wouldn’t say

Jonathan’s dad rocks Harleys, wrestling, and hockey skates

Makes it clear, there is one thing he hates

Playtime, dressed up in moms stuff

Heard dad pull in, took everything off in a rush

I see him now on Facebook, and Instagram

He’s got lots of friends, they all understand

he will always be a little heartbeat to me

glad in our world we are now equal, live free
