I against She, She against IA Poem by Anu
If you had once told me of all the horrors that await
I would have trembled made even worse mistakes But little did I know the greatest battle I had yet to create Is not of failures nor disgrace but with the one that bears my name,my face Dispute of all forms is terrible, rightly so But unspeakable are those where you are both defender and foe Beware shame and anger will cloud your mind Heed my warning or forever struggle against its bind She protects me holding me within a bubble While everything breaks into rubble I struggle to break free from her hold While yearning for the unknown 5,4,3,2,1.... I turn and run into the cold While she tries harder coaxing me towards the known Finally braving through the night I emerge into the healing light Battered, bruised how much ever I may be I realized the courage the greatness within me That what happens in the unknown Your survival...it becomes your throne I've defeated her, she who once was I She smiles not of hate I wonder why But apparently this is fate To sit proud but not arrogant on my own throne To embrace the bronze not just the gold To stand when I yearn to roll over and moan To heal my scars both new and old Then only will I be worthy to see How much I can evolve and become a better me I against she, She against I Its one Everyone faces, not just you and I Although we may question why Its one where we evolve not die ©Anu Elsa Joseph Nov, 10 2017 © 2017 AnuAuthor's Note
