Desolate

Desolate

A Poem by Rachel Shield

Life is not a piece of cake
Nor swimming during summer's heat
More like a battlefield with enemies
That you won't like to meet

There's anxiety and depression that will weaken your resolve
And there's doubt who can eat your will
There's sadness to drag you down
And loneliness to sap your strength

Cries of help not heard
But only fell to deaf ears
Silent screams are being made
But not without a single tears

Despondence strikes with no witness
Always the smile before anyone can see
How broken you truly are
And no one can be the remedy
