Forgot entirely,

The question mark at the end of the why is intentional. Instead of producing "...forgot entirely why," as you would in "I forgot [why] entirely," its intention is to say "I forgot entirely. Why?" As if to question the whole point of having to forget which indicates that "I" has not entirely forgotten his love for "her."
