Summer HeatA Poem by Frank F. Atanacioa body found during the summer heatBlinded by the summer heat, life once again falls to defeat, the spirit stands in a third floor apartment with no windows and a busted door, dishes scattered all over the floor, medical examiners’s attendants move the bloated wreck of an eighty-four year old retiree, who had fallen and broken his neck, he died next to the kitchen table, and stayed there until neighbors could no longer stand the smell, he simmered in his own quiet hell, and nothing was worse, as the torso was ripe and was getting ready to burst. © 2010 Frank F.
