No Warmth in Her Breath

No Warmth in Her Breath

A Poem by Frank F. Atanacio
"

a ghost makes a realization...

"

Her eyes were steady blinking,

a ghost watched,

as he seemed to be thinking,

staring off into the dark,

there was no light,

but even in that deep night,

the ghost could see her smile,

so he stayed a while,

her fear shaded,

her smile faded,

everything became a wreck,

as he felt the heat

of embarrassment crawl up his neck,

he put his hand on her shoulder,

she felt colder,

there was no warmth in her breath

then he realized

she wasn’t life, she was death.

A powerful and dark poem. Very beautifully written,. The last line was truly amazing, "She wasn't life, she was death." Brilliant

chilly appearance...sometimes death doesn't need the scythe to prove itself to us...:)
