Quietly to the GroundA Poem by Frank F. AtanacioA witch tale...For miles she was trailed, all her emotions sailed, the witch was nearly dead, as she tried to sit up and failed, death ran through her head, the witch hunter, holding the water to her mouth, and pouring not giving, she didn’t belong with the living, he continued not giving her a choice, anger in his voice, the witch managed three good swallows before she coughed and choked, the witch hunters laughed and joked, then without a sound, she fell quietly to the ground, and instead of being burnt at the stake, she drowned, and there was no mistake. © 2010 Frank F.
