Given Us The MythA Poem by Frank F. AtanacioTelevision has given us the mythPolice officers would duck while criminals would shoot, television has given us the myth of the raging pursuit, the high speed chase, the adrenaline it would bring, and you could make the case, but in truth there is no such thing, if there were, God knows the police cruiser would blow its shocks, and throw a rod after a dozen blocks, some of the cruisers would look like they survived the worst storms, and the police officers would be filling out forms, explaining to the commanding officer the reasons why they drove, a city owned cruiser into an early grave, television has put us in a dark cave, sitting in fantasy we crave waiting to be saved. © 2010 Frank F.
