Impassive

Impassive

A Poem by Frank F. Atanacio
"

Just a horror tale written in a poem

"
Life torn,
destruction born,
the bodies were ripped to pieces,
chunk by chunk
he flung them into the coals of the fire,
flames grew higher,
as he watched the meat crumple and blacken,
and some became orange meat,
as it failed against the heat,
he watched the maggots shrivel,
and brown and burn,
he wouldn’t close his eyes or turn,
and he had not moved since,
he wouldn’t flinch
he watched without a moving a muscle,
not a finger, not a hair,
he just stared,
his eyes glared,
his hands were very red,
and his expression was very impassive,
as he just watched the countless dead.
