He Wore The Mask Of Death

He Wore The Mask Of Death

A Poem by Frank F. Atanacio
"

he simply wore the mask of death

"
It was an expression to cool the blood,

she was looking at him with grave speculation,

sort of a mild temptation,

he had seen the eyes of many women,

it was a gaze of the undesired,

but of that moment of her measuring silence,

there was no boldness,

just the coldness

that would be her glare,

he waited a while,

and there was no trace of guile,

he wore the mask of death,

she felt it in her breath,

he knew beyond question

that he would never have any desire,

her flame lit,

but there was no fire.
