Nothing falls into place...

Nothing fell into place,
all the earmarks of a major case,
a dead child, eyes covered, mouth taped,
a brutal rape,
and a murder,
lead stories for the six o’clock news,
unpaid dues,
we love those hate crimes,
these are our times,
as we sit and wait,
our compassion fails,
our belief trails,
convictions come slower than snails,
as we watch and wait for all the special details,
for a moment life would pause,
as if we just sold our soul,
and we call it one righteous cause,
as we search for the remote control.
