Whispered His Name

Whispered His Name

A Poem by Frank F. Atanacio
"

Devil welcoming a new sinner

"

He stopped just in front of Hell’s gate,

thought things over,

it was inevitably his fate,

he was crushed and full of rage,

locked away like an animal in a cage,

died,

no one cried,

he was humiliated, without pain,

and that went against his grain,

his ghost walked with a calm,

and he was once vicious and insane,

but in Hell that went unnoticed,

as evil placed no blame,

he was freed of all his shame,

as the devil whispered his name.

Freed of his shame but sentenced to an eternity of hellfire and deprivation of God's Presence!

Beautiful imagery again and great tone of sadness. The flow is perfect. There's nothing I could suggest to make it better. And I loved the ending about the devil whispering his name. Very powerful.
