Life's Simple LessonsA Poem by Frank F. AtanacioWitty lessons to be learned
One
Child sticks doll in the toilet, flushes water went up and up, she quickly hid underneath her bed, mother comes, then screams, and that was all she said.
Two Man standing under a tree, icicles glisten on a limb, beneath him crystal clear, gleaming sight, warm shining sun, sets them free.
Three Wounded eyes that hurt so much, you did see the skull and bones, on the can, when you brought the can home, but when you sprayed the bee’s nest, you had the can facing the wrong way.
Four
Snowflakes falling, covers the ground, mother’s calling, their kids to come home, but they play, on that brisk winter’s day, you smile as a child falls, but you fail to hear the other calls, as a snowball hits your face.
Five
Sizzling logs in the fireplace, wood crackling, warmth fills the room, cozy, nice, but you locked yourself outside, in your bathrobe, while getting the mail, now you’re just on the outside looking in. © 2009 Frank F. AtanacioReviews
