His Private Darkness

His Private Darkness

A Poem by Frank F. Atanacio
"

Dark, death, suicide

"

After the contemplation

she decided wrong from right,

so the devil invited her in,

excited about her sin,

he saw her shimmering

as she entered his private darkness,

her tears like gold,

his eyes cold,

her soul sold,

as it was effortlessly told,

so she stands deflated,

and he stands bold,

she had a childlike face,

eyelids fluttering,

her inner voice stuttering,

as he was ready to fix and subdue,

payment for her suicide was apparently due,

a mounting wave of excitement

washed across his dark features,

he was the hideous of all dark creatures,

she thought there was no other way,

for a cheating wife,

so she chose not to stay,

and she took her own life.
