Cocoon...

Cocoon...

A Poem by Frank F. Atanacio
"

God, Hope, and family saga

"

At 3 o’clock in the morning,

long after the cries,

he opened his eyes,

his wife on her death bed,

in an imaginary cocoon,

weeks gone by and she should already have been dead,

but God has kept her alive in that hospital room,

death did everything to penetrate that cocoon,

he saw it as a sign of hope,

he had to be strong,

and he had to cope,

he loved her for so long,

and taking her now was just so wrong,

her vital signs were being recorded

around the clock,

tick-tock, tick-tock,

and the zigzagging lines moved up and down,

then a sudden shock,

no nurse to be found,

God’s image filled the room,

and his wife slowly emerged from her cocoon.
