He Saved

He Saved

A Poem by Frank F. Atanacio
"

Drama, life-saving

"

Just beyond his finger,

the child lingered

just past his reach,

it was the fear that came so near,

that life couldn’t teach,

the child was falling off the cliff,

had a seizure which first brought him down,

rolling uncontrollably on the ground,

on aching legs he scrambled far

enough to throw an arm over the child,

rested it there for awhile,

to pain his muscle was enslaved,

but he pulled, tugged,

and with his last breath, he saved.

This is a really intense piece. The last line really got me. The imagery is powerful and makes up this poem. Great job!
