His Victory Was Her Defeat

His Victory Was Her Defeat

A Poem by Frank F. Atanacio
"

Sadness, pain, anguih

"

She had just turned around to face him,

life of lies,

life of sin,

her mouth open to voice her suspicions,

but she felt the intermissions,

her mind’s eye filling with fear,

she couldn’t confront him,

she wouldn’t dare.

He was abusive as he did what he pleased,

her life was difficult,

his was a breeze,

his dark intense gaze,

controlled her,

and brought her down to a new phase,

depression settled in,

it was always all about him,

she would always consume his fire,

take his heat,

and his victory was her defeat.

I felt as if you wrote about me...as a victim of an abusive relationship my road to becoming me again has been difficult. Merely leaving the abuser doesn't magically undo all of the emotional, spiritual, and psychological trauma.
I hope the person you wrote about is out of the relationship and healing.
Profound work!

Wow, very good poem!

This piece flowed quite nicely and I was drawn into the intensity of the dynamics of their relationship.

You did a wonderful of job of creating clear images of each of the people in this poem.

I look forward to reading more from you!
