Brought Out The Queen

Brought Out The Queen

A Poem by Frank F. Atanacio
"

Fantasy, Epic

"

She eyed him,

he grunted,

yellow teeth and brown skin,

he seemed too pallid to look human,

she was to interrogate,

for Mankind’s sake,

but she allowed her emotions to dictate,

she knelt beside him,

then turned her neck to one side,

the man, mouth opened wide,

exposed his canine teeth,

her mouth went dry,

there wasn’t a single cry,

the guard at the door just looked on,

like that proverbial fly,

she was seemingly unflustered,

and by chance,

her strength enhanced,

he got up and she watched him go,

her face slowly disfigured,

and her eyes would glow,

The man had initially taken that as a good sign,

but suddenly felt grief,

despair, apprehension, confusion, fear

and that was rare.

The woman attacked,

with fury and rage,

the guard fell back,

filled with shock at a visual he had never seen,

suddenly realizing that the one bite,

brought out the queen.
