The Mourning

The Mourning

A Poem by Allyson N. Jason

The last drop

will never stop

until it destroys...

Thinking of you and painfully wishing you away

secretly desiring you and wanting to cry...

Where is my salvation

Where is my platform

underneath my feet is wind...

I've taken a step that could lose you forever

in other paths I stand still and falter...

Where is my salvation

Where is my platform

underneath my feet is sand...

Knowing all along that curtains would ruefully close

but I struggled to exist maintain points where shadow and light blended...

Where is my salvation

Where is my platform

in final acts of courage remain weakness & despair...

In brightness you disappear

In darkness all I can see is you...

but I've lost myself further down some hidden well...

Death masquerades as life

and daybreak is cruel and haunting...

Inside I collapse continuously...

I will fold into nothing
