Fleeting Somebody

Fleeting Somebody

A Poem by Asusa Susa
"

Life and death are tethered at the soul even before we are mere thoughts in the minds of those who conceived us. Two great victories in our understanding of our place in the great scheme of things.

"
To know death is near,
I shall not fear
For life has been,
Oh! So dear!

The laughter and the cries,
Will not sadden my good-byes.
For a new place awaits,
Out beyond the heavens and the universe.
Free from the bondage of crime, misery, and hate,

I  live  to die and I die  to live.
It has been written in the stars,
Since the day of  my birth.

For I know not, of any other verse,
Perhaps it was my curse?

Yet hear I lay, with never-lasting breath.
Weak, fragile, and numb, I’ve become an empty shell.
Counting the seconds, minutes and hours,
For the day of my death!

A good philosophy, for nothing is constant except change in the material world. Probably not wise to count the minutes until the big sleep, however. There's too much to enjoy before that last curtain falls.
