One Lifetime

One Lifetime

A Poem by Asusa Susa
"

A poem that references life and death at our most basic level of understanding.

"
Our existence…

Is, but a twinkle in the eye of the universe;
A fragile breath that never returns.

Our existence…

Born behind the veil of secrecy,
Blind to the mysteries of the unknown.

Our existence…

Craves for immortality,
Yet, hungers for spirituality.

Our existence…

Reconciled to nothing more than:
An existential verse,
A soft whisper,
And a heavenly song.

Our existence…

Left behind to gather dust and tears.
In the void of the magic of our soul.

Our existence does seem inconsequential at times. Unfortunately, it has no competitors.

Words that remind me, as I get older, that a new country awaits somewhere out there, just waiting to welcome my immortal soul with a warm embrace.
