1. What’s their full name? Why was that chosen? Does it mean anything?

Kaede! Yokai aren't much on creativity when it comes to names. She was named after the colorful trees near the family den.

2. Do they have any titles? How did they get them?

No titles.

 

3. Did they have a good childhood? What are fond memories they have of it? What’s a bad memory? 

Yokai grow up quickly, but she has fond memories of a relatively warm childhood.  A bad winter killed off three of her littermates when she was very small, and she was once badly attacked by a pig demon. Her favorite memory is finding a lost capsule toy in the forest while trying to hide herself from the demon, which kept her company through that painful night. 

4. What is their relationship with their parents? What’s a good and bad memory with them? Did they know both parents? 

Kaede has a good relationship with her parents, despite how large her family is. Her father is especially loving to his little one, even with the three new babies in the family. He found Kaede while she was hiding from her attacker, and fought it off, despite how afraid he was. Kaede's mother tends to be stricter, and often kicks her older kids out of the den to learn how to survive on their own. She did it to Kaede after her triplet brothers were born, and Kaede ended up picking up a nasty fever. She tends to fight with her mom now, not knowing that her mother spent hours searching for a cure after they found her during a freak snow storm.  

5. Do they have any siblings? What’s their names? What is their relationship with them? Has their relationship changed since they were kids to adults?

Kaede has lots of siblings! Her older ones have mostly moved out but remain nearby, since tanukis enjoy socializing with one another often. Her favorite is her older sister Anzu, who used to tell her stories about the world, and how she'd met a human once. In order, the remaining children are Hatsu, Cho, Asa, Anzu, Gen, Kiku, Kaede, Ume, Matsu, and Take.

6. What were they like at school? Did they enjoy it? Did they finish? What level of higher education did they reach? What subjects did they enjoy? Which did they hate?

No school for youkai! But the older siblings tend to help teach the younger ones about the world, and how to play the best tricks. Kaede enjoys transformations the most, and illusion magic the least, because transforming something else is really hard!

7. Did they have lots of friends as a child? Did they keep any of their childhood friends into adulthood? 

Kaede has a few friends, like an old kappa she talks to whenever she goes to the river, but mostly, the tanuki family hangs around itself. She once made friends with a lone kitsune kid when she was younger, but isn't sure what happened to them. Its been a year since she's seen them.

8. Did they have pets as a child? Do they have pets as an adult? Do they like animals? 

Wild tanuki seem to like her kind, and she's deathly afraid of dogs and wolves. She doesn't really know what a pet is, but has some frogs that she feeds sometimes. She generally likes animals.

9. Do animals like them? Do they get on well with animals? 

Wild animals typically ignore Kaede, unless they think she's on their territory, or food.  Boar and bears are especially mean. She can't get used to city animals at all.

10. Do they like children? Do children like them? Do they have or want any children? What would they be like as a parent? Or as a godparent/babysitter/ect?

Kaede likes children, but likes picking on them more. Tanuki are a close knit family, so everyone tends to help out with babies, and learns to love em, one way of another. Kaede wants a huge family when she finally makes one. She'd probably be a protective but mischivious mother, and end up strict like her mom. As a babysitter, she does ok. She gets bored too easy to really help, since she's still rather young.

11. Do they have any special diet requirements? Are they a vegetarian? Vegan? Have any allergies?

Tanuki are omnivorous! Kaede tends to eat lots of different things, sometimes even posionious ones, out of curiosity. She even steals food offerings at local shrines! She can even eat some posionious toads in a pinch, but they can make her very loopy.

12. What is their favourite food? 

Sake and meat buns! In the wild, she likes honey, roasted lizard, and crayfish.

13. What is their least favourite food?

Doesn't have one!

14. Do they have any specific memories of food/a restaurant/meal?

One day, someone was eating by the forest, enjoying a picnic. Kaede pretended to be a regular tanuki and watched them enjoy their meal, curious about the shiny wrappers and different scents. The person saw her, and offered her a cookie. After they left (since she couldn't get too close to them) she went to get it. It was amazing. She kind of regrets not talking to that person...

15. Are they good at cooking? Do they enjoy it? What do others think of their cooking?

She's a terrible cook. Don't let her near any human cookery. She makes ok roasted lizards?

16. Do they collect anything? What do they do with it? Where do they keep it? 

Kaede sometimes steals things from humans because of her intense curiousity. She hides them in a tree hole, just to look at later. Some notable objects are a towel, a little boys hat, her leaf hairclip, and a shiny leather shoe.  

17. Do they like to take photos? What do they like to take photos of? Selfies? What do they do with their photos?

She'd probably really enjoy taking photos, and getting them taken, if she was allowed. She'd probably take pictures of everything.

18. What’s their favourite genre of: books, music, tv shows, films, video games and anything else

Adventure! Cartoons are something she likes to sneak into town to watch. She really likes hero shows, and their bright colors.

19. What’s their least favourite genres?

Scary movies are too scary!

20. Do they like musicals? Music in general? What do they do when they’re favourite song comes?

Kaede likes music enough to follow it to its source. She often takes long naps while listening to her mother hum, and hums whatever song she's heard in town on her walks, although its never accurate to the song.

21. Do they have a temper? Are they patient? What are they like when they do lose their temper?

She has a very quick temper! She doesn't have much patience; children get the worst of it. She tends to yell when she's mad, run away, or play a mean prank.

22. What are their favourite insults to use? What do they insult people for? Or do they prefer to b***h behind someone’s back?

It's fun to tease humans! She'll call them "mortal" or "puppy" collectively, but usually comes up with terrible nicknames for people. 

23. Do they have a good memory? Short term or long term? Are they good with names? Or faces?

Like most youkai, she has a good  long term memory, but a terrible short term. She's bad with names, and surprisingly good with faces. 

24. What is their sleeping pattern like? Do they snore? What do they like to sleep on? A soft or hard mattress?

Long naps anywhere. On the ground, in a tree, in the back of a truck once. She sleeps like she's dead, and snores a little. She's a messy sleeper, sometimes kicks. Since she's used to sleeping in a pile with her siblings, she tends to cuddle up to other things without knowing it. 

25. What do they find funny? Do they have a good sense of humour? Are they funny themselves?

Kaede enjoys pranks, but deson't really get human humor. It usually goes right over her head--she'll pretend she understands it, of course! She can be pretty funny herself, if you like silly things.

26. How do they act when they’re happy? Do they sing? Dance? Hum? Or do they hide their emotions? 

Kaede enjoys drinking and dancing when she's feeling cheerful. Dancing in the full moon is a favorite of the whole family. She's very bouncy when she's in a good mood, and tends to drape herself on people. 

27. What makes them sad? Do they cry regularly? Do they cry openly or hide it? What are they like they are sad?

She's surprisingly sensitive, so when Kaede feels hurt, she'll run away and hide. Crying seriously in the open is rare for her. She'll also mope and avoid someone who has been mean to her, to the point where she'll even stop pranking them.

28. What is their biggest fear? What in general scares them? How do they act when they’re scared?

Dogs. Hunting dogs in particular. Hiding is the only option for a scared tanuki. If she cant get away, she'll transform herself. 

29. What do they do when they find out someone else’s fear? Do they tease them? Or get very over protective? 

She typically uses that fear against them in some sort of prank. If she goes too far, and really make the person cry or faint, she won't do it again, and sometimes leave a small present as a "farewell" gift.

30. Do they exercise? Regularly? Or only when forced? What do they act like pre-work out and post-work out?

No need to work out when you're always moving! Stretching often helps keep her limber and quick. 

31. Do they drink? What are they like drunk? What are they like hungover? How do they act when other people are drunk or hungover? Kind or teasing?

Kaede loves drinking! Sake is her favorite--she hasn't been able to try much human alcohol. She's typically the same when drunk, but the strong stuff can make her dizzy, clingy, and sometimes promiscuous.

32. What do they dress like? What sorta shops do they buy clothes from? Do they wear the fashion that they like? What do they wear to sleep? Do they wear makeup? What’s their hair like?

Kaede prefers loose clothing that shows a lot of leg--its very easy to move around in! She has terrible human fashion taste, and picks bright, jarring patterns. Its very contrasting to her usual forest colored tones. She'll sleep naked if she can. She doesn't really care what her hair looks like, but has to have the leaf clip at all times. Typically, its in a messy braid.

33. What underwear do they wear? Boxers or briefs? Lacey? Comfy granny panties?

None! Normally. But she does have human underwear, so the question is why...

34. What is their body type? How tall are they? Do they like their body?

She's not very tall, about 5" even. Because she's the runt of the litter, she's kind of scrawny. Her belly sticks out a lot when she's full, and she's developing rather large breast. Her fluffy tail is bigger than normal, and she takes pride in it.

35. What’s their guilty pleasure? What is their totally unguilty pleasure? 

She probably doesn't have a lot of activities she has shame in. Sneaking off to the city is kind of dangerous, and could get her in a lot of trouble with her family if they knew, so maybe she feels a little guilty about that. She really likes watching tv and stuffing her face. 

36. What are they good at? What hobbies do they like? Can they sing?

She's good at transforming herself, and scaring little kids. She likes fishing, dancing and exploring. She's not the best singer, and can't really carry a tune.

37. Do they like to read? Are they a fast or slow reader? Do they like poetry? Fictional or non fiction?

She can't read human letters, but enjoys listening to poetry, especially haikus. Exciting stories with lots of funny bits are her favorites. 

38. What do they admire in others? What talents do they wish they had?

Courage is something Kaede can really admire, since her family motto is "run, and live another day". It's not often than she sees someone risk themselves and stand their ground. She wishes she was better at transforming objects and wants to learn how to properly posses humans, so she can make them bring her things. She also envies Anzu and her beauty.

39. Do they like letters? Or prefer emails/messaging? 

She'd probably be terrible at letters, ramble on and on, and sometimes forget to reply or mail.

40. Do they like energy drinks? Coffee? Sugary food? Or can they naturally stay awake and alert?

I don't suggest giving her coffee. Sugar makes her hyper, and she'll pig out on it until she gets sick. 

41. What’s their sexuality? What do they find attractive? Physically and mentally? What do they like/need in a relationship?

Kaede seems to have a wide strike range?? She flirts with both young and old, men and women, especially when she's drunk. She likes the "new" fad of humans dying their hair, and tends to be really physical and clingy with people she likes. Pretty people also attract youkai, and tankui are no different. She'd like to settle down with someone who isn't boring, and will take good care of her and her future pups. 

42. What are their goals? What would they sacrifice anything for? What is their secret ambition?

To make a huge family!  Big families are fun families, so Kaede wants to find a guy with lots of staminia and health to make a really big one! Secretly, she wants to make a real human friend, and learn so much more about them. She currently doesn't have anything she'd give up anything for. Maybe her family.

43. Are they religious? What do they think of religion? What do they think of religious people? What do they think of non religious people?

She's not really religious, but she knows a few "gods" here and there. She tends to stay out of their way, since you never know who can smite you if you get on their bad side.

44. What is their favourite season? Type of weather? Are they good in the cold or the heat? What weather do they complain in the most? 

Kaede likes all seasons! She's generally okay with any weather too, but heavy snows and rains are not her idea of fun. She does poorest in winter, since she's supposed to be sleeping most of it away.

45. How do other people see them? Is it similar to how they see themselves? 

Most people probably see Kaede as annoying. Kaede thinks she's quite interesting and smart, and tends to be a know-it-all, proving most people right.

46. Do they make a good first impression? Does their first impression reflect them accurately? How do they introduce themselves?

Since she usually introduces herself with a prank,  her first impressions aren't always the best. Since she's pretty, she tends to really catch people's eyes. If you meet her when she'd drunk, you won't soon forget her.

47. How do they act in a formal occasion? What do they think of black tie wear? Do they enjoy fancy parties and love to chit chat or loathe the whole event?

Fancy patterned yukatas are her idea of formal. If its really fancy, she'll wear shoes. Since she loves parties, she'd probably talk and drink the whole night, and end up doing something stupid.

48. Do they enjoy any parties? If so what kind? Do they organise the party or just turn up? How do they act? What if they didn’t want to go but were dragged along by a friend? 

Drinking parties are the most fun! She's crashed lots of festivals and ended quite a few events due to out-of-hand behavior. If she was somehow dragged into one, alcohol probably isn't allowed there. She'll sneak it in anyways, or sulk. 

49. What is their most valued object? Are they sentimental? Is there something they have to take everywhere with them?

She really treasures her junk pile, but always has to have her leaf clip and capsule toy. She sometimes carries a knife with her for protection, and usually has bit and pieces of things she's picked up in her pockets. 

50. If they could only take one bag of stuff somewhere with them: what would they pack? What do they consider their essentials?

Food. That bag would 90% food, and the toy would come with her in her special pocket.
