Trapdoor

Trapdoor

A Poem by Astro Annie
"

What it feels like to be suicidal.

"

I'm totally unworthy in your eyes
A burden on your friendship and your soul
And so it's shouldn't come as a surprise
That I've retreated back into my hole.

The trapdoor at the bottom calls my name
It whispers with the promise of release
I tenderly caress it's hardened frame
Start wondering if it would bring me peace

I gently grab the pullring in my hand
And lift it back until it's open wide
I pause to wonder if you understand
And then I join that darkness deep inside.

Short but very poignant and it speaks volume! Many suffer from the mental struggle from within! You expressed the darkness vividly, thanks for sharing. You may consider reading my poem "Depression" and or "The Shallow Deep", I think you'll find correlation!
