Evicted dreams

Evicted dreams

A Poem by Astral_Tides
"

Charcoal Locomotive sets sail for the nothing. Boarding: Exhausted dreams and hopes.

"

Tick-Tock.. Tick- Tock.. Bong..

The resident clock tower chimes One.
Tram ways plane through on schedule.

Memories begin offloading.
Hopes board a charcoal locomotive, wielding one way tickets.
Traveler heads hang.
Steps clack silently.
Whistle sounds.
Last call for the nothing.

Usher tips his hat remorsefully.
Reluctantly accepting tickets of transition.
It's his job, show him some pity.

"All aboard!?"

'Whoot whoot'

The only sign of piercing this silence.
Impatient machine seeks the trailing distance.
Steaming, waiting to cast off.

The last tentative passengers scurry within,
Seemingly forced by un-seen sentries

Whispers trickle from the window panes..

"Drown the ocean,
Drain the sky...
Wash the color from the sun.
Still the thunder,
Derail the Earth...
Burn the stars out.. One by One."

Silvered tears glimmer with the setting sun through pale glass.
Landing only to be absorbed by the very linen of the exiled bearers.

The conductor sends his prerequisites through these hallowed chambers:

Did you dream distant skies
And thirst to roam and wander?
Did you die silently inside?
Did you think you'd find the answer
Behind the light?
Did you think you'd find a way
To disconnect your favorite pain?

The lot vacant, spare one employed redeemer.

Collections weigh heavily within his blazer.
His eyes trace transparent boxes.
Imprinting empty glances of despair.
His eternal burden.
Hands clasped behind, his lids fall.
Head slowly bows in farewell.

In amber disarray
Words unspoken feed the lie
Another pill... you're doing fine today

The machine begins to churn. Full-filling its purpose.
Billows cloud out, dulling a distant light globe waning toward refuge.
Thundering forward to twilight, never to return.
The journey begins.
Capacity all full, and accounted for.

Life shivers in the distance
Wish it all away
Your sun is smiling on my ashes
On this perfect day

thank you :)
I smelled the smoke.
Heard the crinkling of tickets,
and felt my heart race
as I imagined my foot being placed upon solid steel.

Thank you for this.
I've never been on a train,
and your vividness proved well.

^_^
