The Essential Kind of Love

The Essential Kind of Love

A Poem by Celestine Astraea Firestorm

Here I am, in front of you
The humid air envelops my lungs
I breathe the scent of sweat and aftershave on your skin
You look into my eyes deep and true
I'm staring straight at your soul
There is no need for conversation

Your strength encircles me in form of your arms
Holding me close, but never overshadowing
My heart beats fast
With the slightest touch, your fingers graze my neck
I let my eyelids fall
I give into sensation

My fingertips sketch the outline of your face
Running your hands through my long, brown tresses
Ever-so gently you tug my hair
Bringing my lips to yours
Cradling your head in my hands, I'm tasting salt on your lips
Can you feel the chemical reaction?

Your tongue darts over my lips, you're foraging
Creating a memory of this time, this place, how I taste
I hope you comprehend you've opened Pandora's Box
You unlocked my heart, which I had hidden away
Static crackles all around us
You have my full attention
