Papercut

Papercut

A Poem by AssonanceWriter

Those eyes that use to glisten even under the darkest nights.

That laughter that could rescue almost any anger.

Those gentle moments when your finger accidentally touched mines.

Who am I deceiving?

Is it just me who thought that your flashlight eyes would lead me to the north star?

Was it just me who heard your laughter all wrong?

Is it just me who thought that our moments could have converted into a reality.

Who am I deceiving?

Sometimes the papercut on the surface is the one that would leave a permanent scar.

In an instant, it cuts through.

There’s no blood.

No bruises.

Just an invisible mark.

The permanent scar.

The papercut.
