BLACK LIVES MATTER

BLACK LIVES MATTER

A Poem by AssonanceWriter

Every day, I get treated the same way.

Let someone look at me as if I'm not human.

Let someone speak to me as if I'm an animal.

Treat me as a bacteria.

A germ,

Take a knife and stab me.

My blood is red,

Just like anybody’s

Every day, I get treated the same way.

Let someone look at me as if I'm not human.

Let someone speak to me as if I'm an animal.

Time is supposed to move forward, but it's moving backward.

I can’t sit here and watch the timeline convert from pigment to monochrome,

If you ain’t going to do it- then, I will.

If you’re not going to maneuver then I shall.

What differences would it make if I were to stand in that crowd

What differences would it make if I hold up a sign spitting about my feelings’

Ain’t nothing gon’ change that, history can’t rewrite itself.

It’s the MOVEMENT.

The Message,

The Missive.

The Transmission.

Every day, I get treated the same way.

Let someone look at me as if I'm not human.

Let someone speak to me as if I'm an animal.

Treat me as a bacteria.

A germ,

Take a knife and stab me.

My blood is red,

Just like anybody’s
