"No Offence.."A Poem by Karina AndersonI wrote this for a poem challenge, hosted by friend of mine and now it's one of my most favorite works.
Till cruel words are flung, creating turmoil. Poke, prick and prod but they don't mean it. Don't take it offensively, not what they meant. Just being honest, trying to be truthful. Claiming to be innocent, trying to be helpful. In reality, slowly killing with each new bash. "No offense," they speak, "Don't be rash." And those words are just another excuse, to cause more pain, to keep up the ruse. More spiteful sentences run across the mind. Cutting deep, but leaving no visible trace behind. That doesn't stop the damage though, or make it hurt less, with nothing to show. Sling more negative, then say "No offense." Pretend they're being nice, like they're blessed. Won't let the words have all the power; Take action against the spiteful, watch them cower. © 2011 Karina AndersonAuthor's Note
