Teenage Depression

Teenage Depression

A Story by Asiya
"

There is this faraway place we'd sometimes want to stay in forever I'll introduce it

"
Let's say there is this deep, dark room
It's not clear whether it's a room by name only
It could be a nest, it could be a lonesome well
If I'm being silly, I could say : it's all in your mind

You've fallen, the point isn't that you can't get out
Why would you try to, what if you fell because It made you run
For your life, to this pit, then it got dark and wet

You're still as dry as ever though, your lips stayed chapped

Yet what could be rock, what could be wood
Is so humid it seems to breath
Your hand on the wall is pulsating
Kind of like a muscle after heavy labour
Kind of how restless and noisy you felt playing hide and seek,
Years ago.

You know, you could hear it all
Your skin brushing all surfaces
Your heart pounding slowly, so predatorish
The inside of your thighs, drenched in healthy, childish sweat
Ears throbbing, a muffled pressure right behind each eye
You'd get caught, being so loudly alive

There is no one looking for you now
How would anyone know ?

Maybe it isn't as bad as it seems, after all
Like, yeah, there is nowhere to sit on
A curious moss, squishy, deep in between your fingers
To be frank, do you even know if you're moving right now?
Could you do it if you tried?
But still, nobody's looking for you

You can do anything
Even if there is nothing to do

Calling for help would be a waste, isn't it ?

First you'd lose the game, then It'd be right in your face
Knowing all about you, as if they could understand
You became your own secret, for the first time in your short life

And it's so good, so powerful, it's tingling all through your spine
You feel almighty, drunk on a lifetime of anguish and envy, having a tight grip on this very life
So heavy on your shoulders, yet so defined: clear as day

Maybe you should take a nap, or look for some stars in the dark skies
This is no sky up there, what are you saying ?

It's way too far up to be seen, or is it under your feet ?

You can't tell anymore, that's okay.

Just sleep for a couple hours, enjoy time awkwardly flowing
You'll wake up anew, you'll have the wits and courage
To face it all

See you later

Asiya
It will be followed by a proper adventure in a child's lonely mind
Take it as prevention or storytelling or both
It probably is
