Food Taken

Food Taken

A Poem by Asilem
"

a poem for The Host

"

I can’t stay in one place for too long.

The parasites would find me.

They’d take me like the last cookie

On a plate where there was once many.

But I’m so hungry.

I need to bring Jamie food.

I have to take it from them

And leave quickly without being pursued.

Every single sound I hear is loud.

The door clicking shut the tick tock of a clock.

My uneven breathing, and stomach moans.

I wouldn’t dare talk.

I stuff my food into my bag.

My heart is battering like bats

Against my aching rib cage

As I charge through the desert grass.

A interesting poem. I like the feel of mystery and desperation. Hunger make us do wild things. I like the tale and the strong ending. Thank you for the excellent poem.
