Sparkle Baby

A Chapter by Asilem

"Anyways," Cameron said, as if the tension between Lucas and himself was never there. "We are ready to leave now."

"Alright," Lucas murmured. "Tell everyone to go on ahead. I've got... baggage."

Cameron's red eyes rested on me for a moment before they danced back to Lucas. "Do you need any help?" he offered.

I felt Lucas' arms tighten their hold on me. "No," came his gruff reply.

"Alright. See you at the house." He turned his back to us, and in the blink of an eye, he was gone.

That definitely startled me. "W-where'd he go?" I said. Lucas released his grip and took hold of my shoulders with his cold hands. He turned me to face him.

My eyes were wide when he bent his tall frame toward me, his beautiful face just inches from mine. I felt his cold breath fan across my nose and cheeks. From this close up, I could see the white moon reflected in the bloody red depth of his eyes.

"What do you want from me?" I whispered.

Instead of my answer me, he slid his hands across my shoulders, up the sides of my neck, to my cheeks.

"I want you ."

If I wasn't so terrified. I would have rolled my eyes. " Why do you want me? What do you need me for?"

He closed his eyes and sighed, dropping his hands and turning away me. For a few silent moments he stood there staring at some unknown point in the dark woods.

"I'll tell you later," he said, turning back to me. "But right now we need to go."

"Go?" I asked. My eyes went to the mangled car. "Wait, what happened to my friends?! What did you do to them?!"

"They're dead," he said impatiently, as if it was a matter he didn't care about. "Now, we gotta go--"

"No!" I protested, backing away from him. "I don't 'gotta' do anything with you! You're a monster!"

"Oh, you have no idea."

"I'm not going anywhere with you!" I said before I whirled away from him.

"Like hell you aren't!" he said threateningly, suddenly appearing in front of me. His hands gripped my waist and I screamed as my world flipped upside down. He planted his hand really high on my thigh, just under my butt to keep me in place. I thrashed and struggled, kicking my legs and pounding his back with my fists.

"Put me down!" I screamed. All the blood was rushing to my face and it was making me dizzy. Pushing on his back with my hands I held myself up. Seeing trees and other dark, unidentifiable objects fly past me at dangerous speeds didn't help with the dizziness.

I felt scared and unsteady. I wrapped my harms around his waist and held tight, sqeezing my eyes shut.

"Oh, please put me down, Lucas," I whispered. I wasn't even sure he could hear me.

To my surprise and relief, he did stop. I loosened my hold on him as he bent forward and lifted me from his shoulder with ease, setting me down softly on a big rock. I closed my eyes, breathing deeply in and out, waiting for the blood to drain from my face.

"Could you please not carry me like a Neanderthall?" I asked, opening my eyes to look at him.

It startled me that he wasn't where I had thought he was, and I was about to panic when I turned my head and found him sitting on the rock with me... Really close.

"How do you want me to carry you?" he asked softly. His face was so close to mine, I struggled to concentrate. I could only stare at him and gape. I couldn't help it... he was just so... beautiful.

Lucas took a deep breath and leaned away.

The movement brought me back to earth and I was able to answer. "To be honest, I'd rather you not carry me at all... but I don't really have a choice, do I?"

He shook his head. "No."

"Darn," I said sarcastically. "Well, in that case I'd perfer bridal style."

Immeadiately, his arms went around me and he stood up, holding me bridal style. My arms locked around his neck and I wondered how he could hold me so easily. He didn't seem to be strained at my weight. I mean, I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit over weight. I was honestly impressed by his strength. But, hey, size 16 is normal... right?

"Like, this?" he whispered, his cold lips brushing against my ear.

I merely nodded, and I felt him begin to run again.

**

I didn't remember falling asleep. I just know that when I awoke, I was no longer being held by Lucas.

My eyes opened to see black satin bedspread span across a king-size four poster bed. I sat up. It looked like I was in an attic. The slanted ceiling, and when I looked out the window, I barely saw the tops of trees. Of course, that could also mean I'm in a very big house or the trees are just really short.

Other than the bed, the furniture looked really worn, but sturdy. There was a wicker rocking chair tucked away in the corner next to the double framed glass doors. In the back of the room was a porcelin bathtub. A small room with a toilet and a sink were next to it.

I searched the room for another door. Like, the door to get out of here. I slid off the big bed, my destination the bathroom, but when I spotted the trap door in the middle of the room, I quickly rerouted my steps. Getting down on my knees, I fiddled with the latch and it unhooked with a light click. I lifted the door to see stairs hidden beneath. They went down and curved right.

I grabbed the rope that was attatched to the back of the door, gently lowering it to the hardwood floor. Decending the stairs, I placed my feet on the steps as quietly as I could. At the bottom there was another door. I tried twisting the brass knob, but it would't budge. So I tried harder with a little push against it.

I gave up with a frustrated sigh. The chances I had of this door were about as slim as me owning a motorcycle. I can tell you that isn't going to be happening any time soon.

Turning away from the door, I went back up the stairs to park my butt on the top step. Resting my chin on the heel of my hand and my elbow on my knee, I let out heavy sigh.

Out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw movement so I turned my head and discovered that Lucas sat next to me. We just sat there staring at each other. For me, I couldn't help but stare. He was just that good-looking. I wonder if he knows how good he looks? Aw, hell. 'Course he does. He's sexy and he knows it.

My eyes wandered down past his face to his broad shoulders, and then his chest. Images of that chest pressed so intimately against my back flashed through my mind. I felt my cheeks heat up as I remembered and I brought my eyes back up to his.

Then it hit me.

"How the hell did you get in here?" I demand, my eyebrows furrowing. "The damn door won't move!"

He huffed a laugh, and jerked his head to the side. "The balcony."

My eyes widened. "You scaled the house?"

"It's not that hard," he shrugged.

"Psh," I scoffed. "For you maybe. Me?" I shook my head. "Not gonna happen."

"Why aren't you afriad of me?" he asked suddenly. All laughter gone.

"Should I be?"

"Don't my eyes freak you out?"

I shook my head. "They're a bit creepy, but not freakitastic."

He looked at me strangely for a moment or two, the he rested his hand on the side of my face. His thumb drew random patterns on my cheek.

"Hey, it's later," I pointed out. "You said you'd tell me what you want from me later."

His thumb halted. "I did say that, didn't I?"

"Yup."

"Do you really want to know?"

"If I didn't want to know, then I wouldn't've asked."

His eyes hardened, and he didn't answer.

"Will it help if I promise not to freak out and go crazy?" I plead.

"I want you to have a baby," he said. "... My baby."

... I just stared at him, unable to believe what I just heard. I pull his hand from my face and sit back, disbelief etched in my face.

"What?!"

"You're going to be the mother of my child."

I took deep breaths, trying to calm myself. I promised him I wouldn't freak.

But then I go over his choice of words.

"What do you mean I'm 'going to'? I'm guessing I don't have a choice?"

"No, you don't."

I scoot away from him until my back hits the wall.

"B-b-but I can't have any kids with you!" I said. "I don't even now you!"

"I know we can't have sex right away," he said softly. "I... wouldn't be able to... control myself."

"Control yourself? What, are you that inexperienced?"

He shook his head. "Not that kind of control. I might... kill you."

"What do you mean you might kill me?!"

He stood up. "I can't tell you right now."

"Why the hell not?!"

"I just can't." He started toward the balcony, but he stopped at the door and turned to look at me. If

possible, my eyes grew even wider. Lucas was sparkling under the sunlight.

Sparkling!?

I opened my mouth to say something, but no words came out. So he just went out the door and

jumped over the balcony railing.

I was too shocked to move. I just sat there, trying to remind myself to breathe.
