I remember the first time I fell in love with hip-hop
I was sitting on the dinning table with my cousin in my granmama's house
Listening to the heart throbbing beats of Dr Dre
I was introduced to this prominent world, through
Eminent sounds of Marshall Mathers
Notorious notes of biggie spun my innocent soul into a full 360
Words that were not meant to make sense to a ten year old
But I had sucked that melody through the waves like an infant sucking its thumb, since the first grade
Striving to be different while they grooved and slow jammed to rhythm and blues
My soul was not built for soul
Music! Music that had nothing to do with me
I found music that welcomed me
So I bumped my head and rapped those foreign words that quickly became part of my identity
Imprinted on my mother board
