How foolish I can beA Poem by Itumeleng MolokommeAn abused woman's final letter to her partner and herself
How foolish you can be
To drink from a cup of me And the turn and hate on me When I open my egresses for you to falsify And how you can remind me of the love I do not have for you While I took the last piece I had and gave to you That piece I should've kept for me I gave to you You turn and flash that smile to conceal a multitude of lies To hide the secrets of the years And lay your hand lovingly on me? You tell me how you love me Only to utter something immensely hurtful minutes later And then flash that smile once again To make such hateful words seem so beautiful How foolish you can be To claim love Yet portray so much hate Scar my heart and wound my soul Mirror! Reflect on me Put my torn soul on exhibition Let me see the truth that lies in front of me And see how foolish I can be How foolish I have been To see the foolishness in you but never in me © 2014 Itumeleng Molokomme |
