Melted Mutuality

Melted Mutuality

A Poem by The AshKat Projects
"

When one's love for the other becomes the latter's burden..

"

Drip drop..drip drop

In my hands I try to hold you

But you're so fast and I'm too slow

Such a pace impossible to control

Drip drop..drip drop

I try to hug you ever so tightly

But I miserably once again fail

Cause you slip ever so lightly

Through hearts that drain you pale

The flow has one direction

Yet I try to keep you still

I need your warmth but you're so cold

The only way to stay

Cause once again in liquid form

Through my hands you'll slip away

It seems as though my desperate fight

The one thing I try to keep

Is that which unwillingly I will have to delete

You cannot be caught; no more

You have no solid form

And yet here I am struggling

Drowning as I fall

Drip drop..drip drop

Our course was once mutual

We sailed the same way

But then I caused a maelstrom

And its waves froze you away

Drip drop..drip drop

Your splash still gives me light

But you are tied in a knot

I want you in my life

But you..simply don’t

Author's Note

The AshKat Projects
The reason for my use of the word "melted" is as in losing its solid substance as in ceasing to exist. That is why its simile to water matches perfectly to me. Water is not solid. You can't catch it unless frozen. But, frozen means without feelings. When you love someone and you realize that the only way for them to stick around is by feeling nothing or less than they did before, it sure does hurt a lot. And yet you keep trying to make it all once again how it was back then...

This is exquisitely sad and emotional, fraught with an impending sense of "Loss". Well done again.

Nice poem.

I got the gist of it before reading your note.

Reminds me of that story of the girl who wants the man she likes to stop traveling, so when she has a chance to wish for it she wishes, "I wish he would lay down roots."

And the guy turns into a tree :D

Well. I did say remind. Not that it was a perfect comparison.
