A child's eyes

A child's eyes

A Poem by Ashley Armstrong
"

A poem about the wonders of the world when you're a child

"
When you look through a child's eyes
Every hill is a mountain
Every puddle is an ocean
Every cardboard box is a ship
And the floor is lava

When you look through a child's eyes
Blankets can become a fort
Fairy tales could be real
Your neighbor is a witch
And people have homes in the clouds

When you look through a child's eyes
The world is full of magic and wonder
Clouds are made of sugar
And the moon is Swiss cheese
The mountains are waffle cones
And the snow is vanilla ice cream

Ashley, I was astonished by the vivid imagery and purity of this poem. It has all the qualities I look for in a poem: authenticity, originality, a genuine sense empowerment. I'll have to keep an eye on your work more closely :)

I don't even like kid's honestly, but this poem was brilliant and so true.
I loved it because I'ts so different not many people write about a subject like this, and because of the pure truth to it all.
Kids are so innocent and yes they see the world through compleatly different eyes then we do.
They also don't know about all the stresses of being an adult, to them life is brilliant, and wonderful.
It would be nice to live the world through a child's eyes again, but eventually everyone grows up, and life is far different then how it was when you were a kid.
Great tale i really enjoyed reading it :)
