Bilbo Baggins

Bilbo Baggins

A Poem by Ashley Armstrong

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit
His name is Bilbo Baggins
A very well-to-do hobbit
Until Gandalf came
With Dwalin, Balin, Kili, Fili, Dori, Nori, Ori, Oin, Gloin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombor, and Thorin
They encountered many hardships
And met a few new friends
Bilbo found the ring
And saved the dwarves a few times
Smaug was slain
The treasure reclaimed
A battle was fought for shares
In the end, Thorin died along with Kili and Fili
Bilbo went home, not the same
He was the clue-finder, web-cutter, stinging fly, the lucky number
Also called the friend of bears, guest of eagles, ringwinner, luckwearer, and barrel-rider
He lost his reputation and was thought to be queer
He didn't care
He was quite content
Wrote a book about his journey
And is only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all
