In the meadow

In the meadow

A Poem by Ashley Armstrong
"

A lullaby I made up for a story I'm writing

"
Down in the meadow where bluebirds fly
Singing their song, a lullaby
They soar on the wings of a melody
Above the flowers so lovely
Down in the meadow the sun is gold
The colors of the blooms pretty and bold
Down in the meadow, time for sleep
Time for bed child, don't you weep
Time to close your eyes and rest your head
Sleep now child in your bed
The blue birds are nesting
While you're resting
Down in the meadow where blue birds fly
Singing their song, a lullaby

That's a beautiful poem. Makes me think of a Disney style a little.

I'm glad you liked it.
This is a great poem. I love the flow of the work and the repetition used to bring the sequence into a full circle. Good job!

Why, thank you.
This is very lovely :) Is there supposed to be a difference between 'bluebirds' in the first line and 'blue birds' in the 13th?

No. My autocorrect made it two words
Your writing style make me think of mine! Interesting thing I've found out, if you read your poem from bottom to top it still makes sense! Nice little rhythm you create with your rhyming as well.

I could sing this poem from top to bottom. Very sweet! And not a single rhyme is forced. You've figured out how to do it, haven't you?

I like how you managed to rhyme without making it sound forced. :) I was wondering, however, if maybe you meant to say "nesting" in the eleventh line, since it seems to fit and rhymes with "resting," in the next line. Nice job creating a peaceful tone.
