HellA Poem by Ashley Reethis is the life she livesAs she weeps at home, She wonders if she’s all alone. Begs for mommy to stop crying. Screams at God, in hopes of dying. This is Hell, where she lives. Beatings are the only thing - daddy gives. She lies in bed but cannot sleep. The pain she suffers cuts so deep. She crawls under the sheet to hide, But remembers that’s how baby brother died. Crumbs are scattered on the floor. She doesn’t dare ask daddy for more. This is Hell, because he deprives. There is no way she survives. Her body lies slump in the corner. Daddy is by no means a mourner. Mommy shakes her to wake her from slumber, But she had already taken her number. This isn’t Hell anymore. She is now a part of the Earth’s décor. Body buried six feet under. In hopes of not being torn asunder. © 2010 Ashley ReeFeatured Review
