Cold

Cold

A Poem by Ashley

I'm so good for you that you push me away.
How dare I speak truth of the words I say.
How dare I tell you that I care
that I won't abandon you
that I love you.
I'll take your cold hearted replies
as disbelief
I just hope that one day you can look at yourself
and see the beauty that I see.

This poem is very relatable especially for me who has loved someone similar to what this work describes. Such relationships are very unhealthy and self destructive. They do teach important lessons but at a painful cost. Thank you for sharing this very thought provoking piece with us.

One must wonder why the other is so reticent. Is there a fear of getting hurt? Does the person lack the feeling of self worth? Is the speaker being too forward and thus setting off alarm bells? Human emotions can be tricky, so it could all or none of the above.
