Here I Am

Here I Am

A Poem by Ashley

If I stood here silent would someone stop and talk to me?
Would they ask why I am here
or how I came to be in this place?
Would they ask me my name
or where I am from?
If I have come here to stay in this place
or have I already begun?
Would my silence stop anyone?
Would they walk pass me, maybe stare?
Nod their heads
Wave at me
Whisper
Act as though they even cared?
Whatever came my way I would deal with.
For I have put myself here and it now consumes me.
I just want to stand here. In this space. Silent.
No right or wrong
No here or there
Just me and this space where I will find peace.
Maybe one day someone will see what I see and choose to stand by me. In this space. Silent. Peacefully.

This is amazing, Ashley. The sentiment and lingering questions give it such a humble and honest tone. It's so raw and insightful and really got me thinking. Just all around a great piece with a great flow. Thank you for sharing, my friend!
