The Other Side

The Other Side

A Story by Ashley

She needed a moment.  A breath of fresh air. An adventure. A laugh. A touch. A kiss. She needed to feel again. It wasn't that she was giving up but she was tired.  Everything she had done is what society had expected of her.  There were people in her life that had left, with no word and others who had stayed with little word.  What is this?  She would ponder.  Sometimes she would ponder too much.  She needed a distraction.  Something that wouldn't allow here to answer all the questions that filled her head with such wonder, confusion and frustration.

"I am here. I am me. I am now."  is what she would repeat to herself when she felt as though she was falling apart.  She had to trust her journey. I mean, she did love her life. Hate was not a word that ventured much into her vocabulary when describing her life.  The future was exciting for her, though scary to think about at times too. That's all normal though right?. She realized she couldn't live in fear.  For all of her greatest strengths were so much bigger than her fears.  It was all just going to be okay.  And there it was.  The distraction.  That constant reminder that everything was going to be, just fine.

I see myself in this text. Which is a really weird experience...reading something you feel you could have written. I liked it.
